Winner of the 15th International Chopin Competition, Rafał Blechacz has received a prestigious Passport Award conferred by the Polityka magazine. Wednesday, 18 January 2006
Polityka confers the annual Passport Award to young original artists. This year's winner in the Music category is Rafał Blechacz, well known to Chopin music lovers around the world.
The Passport is but another prize in a vast collection of Rafał's awards, which includes the above-mentioned first prize at the International Chopin Competition, 2nd prize at the International Competition for Young Pianists "Artur Rubinstein in Memoriam" in Bydgoszcz, Poland (2002), 2nd prize at the 5th International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu, Japan (2003), 1st prize at the 4th International Piano Competition in Maroco (2004) and the 1st prize and awards for the best performance of mazurkas, polonaises and concerto at the National Polish F. Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2005).
