Winners of the 7th National American F. Chopin Piano Competition 2005

For eight days (March 5 -13) twenty four most talented American pianists fought for victory in the 7th American Chopin Competition. The jury, which consisted of internationally accalaimed pianists including Janusz Olejniczak, Tatiana Shebanova and Krzysztof Jablonski, selected six best pianists.

Finalists included:


Mei-Ting Sun, Tadeusz Strugała
First Prize, Best Performance of Polonaise and Best Performance of Concerto: Mei Ting Sun - born 03.14.1981 China. Hometown: New York, School Julliard School of Music, teacher: Robert McDonald.

Second Prize: Rachel Kudo - born: 04.07.1987 Hometown: Northbrook, Illinois. School: Glenbrook North HS and Music Institute of Cl. Teacher: Emilio del Rosario.

Third Prize: Sean Kennard born: 10.03.1984 Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. School: Curtis Institute of Music and College of Charleston Teacher: Eleanor Sokoloff and Enrique Graf.

Fourth Prize: Esther Park - born: 08.07.1884 Hometown: Little Ferry, New York. School: Julliard School of Music Teacher: Yoheved Kaplinsky.

Non-medallist finalists:

Igor Lovchinsky - Best Performance of Mazurka
Howard Na

The four Top Winners will be sponsored by the Chopin Foundation of the United States for participation in the oldest and most prestigious piano competition in the world, the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, in September/October 2005 ( all expenses paid.)
