In 1926 Frederick Chopin monument, sculpted by distinguished sculptor Wacław Szymanowski, was unveiled near Aleje Ujazdowskie in the Royal Lazienki Park, the most beautiful park in Warsaw. During World War II the monument was destroyed but in 1958 it returned reconstructed to its original place.
Ever since 1959 until 2005 the Frederick Chopin Society in Warsaw organised free Chopin concerts at the Chopin monument. Since 2006 the concerts have been organized by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. Concert season lasts from May until September each year. Concerts are held each Sunday at noon and at 4 p.m. During Chopiniana Festival piano marathons are held here.
However, Chopin concerts are held not only at the Chopin monument but also in the Old Orangery, Palace on the Water, Myslewicki Palace, Stanislas Theatre and Theatre on the Water.
