In autumn 1842 George Sand rented apartment number 5 on the first floor. She lived there until 1847, the time when she broke up with Chopin. Chopin rented apartment number 9 on the ground floor. His apartment was composed of one room and a parlour. He lived there until 1849 (excepting April - November 1848 when he was in England).
