The Society aims to promote cultural interaction between the people of Vancouver, who come from a rich variety of ethnic backgrounds, to promote the music of Frederic Chopin, and to emphasize the importance of music in our lives. Chopin was chosen to name the Society because of the universal appeal of Frederic Chopin’s music and his world-wide recognition as one of the greatest composers.
The scope of Society's activities includes recitals, lectures, seminars, outdoor concerts, and competitions plus a scholarship program for young musicians. The VCS is a member of the International Federation of Chopin Societies (IFCS).
