Founded in 1986 by Jan Pokorny Steele, the Chopin Society of Mid-America annually presents the Central Oklahoma Concert Series, traditionally a five-concert season. The mission of the Society is found in its bylaws:
to promote classical music trough live concerts, workshops and competitions;
to promote music appreciation among the youth;
to present quality concerts and workshops at affordable prices.
