Oratorian Concert on the 156th Anniversary of Frederick Chopin's Death

Date: Monday, 17 October 2005, at 20:00

Venue: Poland, Warsaw - Holy Cross Church,
Organizations: National Philharmonic, Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw,

Belongs to: 15th International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition

Program
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Requiem in d minor KV 626

The day of Chopin’s death, October 17th, is celebrated solemnly at the Holy Cross Church, where the urn with the composer’s heart is placed. During all Chopin Competitions in the last thirty years the Church has hosted concerts featuring Mozart’s Requiem, the work which was played during the funeral and memorial services in October, 1849. In keeping with tradition, Requiem resounds at the Church also this year. Performers include soloists Ewa Biegas, Wieslaw Ochman, Piotr Nowacki, Agnieszka Rehlis, as well as the National Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra under the baton of Antoni Wit.
